Weyerhaeuser has received good marks for its forest management practices in eastern Saskatchewan.

A KPMG audit completed for the provincial government last year concludes the company has been doing a mostly commendable job in its Pasquia-Porcupine Forest Management Agreement area.

However, the auditors did find areas needing improvement.

They discovered what they’re calling “isolated incidents of minor non-compliance for harvesting and road activities”.

As well, KPMG says Weyerhaeuser lacks up-to-date data on the success of reforestation efforts.

Weyerhaeuser spokesman John Daisley says that issue will be addressed this summer.

The auditor’s report also criticizes the province for having too many conditions in its approval process of forest management plans.
