A man who was named Mr. Batoche at this past weekend’s Back to Batoche Days has died.

Leo Slater passed away Monday afternoon at the age of 73.

Metis Nation of Saskatchewan president Robert Doucette says his death is being mourned by the Metis Nation.

Doucette says Slater was a well-respected Metis elder in the Prince Albert community who will be sorely missed.

Slater’s funeral will be held this Friday afternoon at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Prince Albert.
