Weather Causing Fire Danger To Rise

A spokeswoman with Saskatchewan Environment says a recent mix of hot temperatures and blustery winds is pushing the fire danger up in a hurry.
Jeanette Krayetski says just last Thursday the fire danger throughout the province was listed as moderate. Today, it’s already changed to high.
She notes strong winds could make things especially bad if fires break out.
Krayetski says conditions in the Far North aren’t as bad as the rest of the province right now, due to some recent moisture they received, but the Churchill Rivers area is a different story.
She says anyone wanting to start open fires in those regions should take extreme precautions to make sure they’re doused before left unattended. She says using a fire-box or camp-stove may make a better option.
