Saskatchewan Environment says the Saskatchewan portion of the Beaver River is free from contamination.

There were concerns about the safety of the water following news of an accidental release of a large amount of treated sewage from Cold Lake, Alberta earlier this month.

The Beaver River runs into Saskatchewan south of the communities of Pierceland and Dorintosh and north of Meadow Lake.

Department officials say samples of the water collected on June 21st near Dorintosh and June 22nd near Beauval and Pierceland showed no evidence of contamination and met department standards for recreational use.
