Saskatchewan’s Ombudsman, Children’s Advocate and Human Rights Commissioner are visiting Stony Rapids today.

The three officials will also make a stop in Black Lake this week.

Ombudsman Kevin Fenwick says it’s the latest in a series of visits they’ve made to the North in recent years to educate northern residents about the services they offer.

Fenwick says they also want to learn how they can better serve northerners on issues like housing, foster care, social assistance and the correctional system.

His office is responsible for handling complaints about provincial government departments and agencies.

Fenwick says he has noticed northerners are less likely to launch a formal complaint about government policies than southern residents.

He says most of the complaints his office receives from the North involve the Department of Community Resources.
