Employees at a First Nations-owned lumber mill near Prince Albert are back on the job this week.

Workers at Wapawekka Lumber have been off since December, when they were laid off due to poor market conditions and the deep winter freeze.

Spokesman Wayne Roznowsky says the hope is to be at full production within three weeks, but workers will be brought along slowly to make sure there are no accidents.

Roznowsky adds market conditions are better than expected, as well.

It was initially thought that February would be a tough month due to a slowdown in housing starts, but Roznowsky says that has not been the case.
