A First Nations-owned sawmill is set to re-open its doors after a seven-month shutdown.
Employees at Wapawekka lumber have already begun re-training this week in anticipation of next Monday’s re-opening.
Company president Steve Smith says market conditions will once again dictate how viable the operation is, but he is confident it can stay profitable.
Wapawekka is owned jointly by the Montreal Lake Cree Nation, Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation and Lac La Ronge Indian Band.
