A former vice-chief in the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says he would like another shot at the job.

Delbert Wapass is a long-time educator with a lengthy track record in band postings and administrative positions — including a term as 3rd Vice-Chief with the FSIN.

On October 23rd, he plans to run for the 2nd Vice-Chief position currently held by Guy Lonechild.

Wapass feels he has lots left to offer the federation.

Wapass says work on the duty to consult issue is of paramount importance to him.

He also says he believes cultural teachings must lay the groundwork for negotiations and law-making.

Wapass is currently working on his master’s degree in education.
