Walmart Baby Case Appealed

Crown prosecutors have decided to appeal the verdict in the April Halkett case.

Last month, the 22-year-old woman was found not guilty of abandoning her baby in a Walmart washroom in Prince Albert.

The judge said he believed Halkett’s testimony that she didn’t know she was carrying a child until she delivered the infant in the toilet.

Halkett told the court she thought the baby was dead and left because she was scared.

A date for the appeal hasn’t been announced.
