Premier Brad Wall is echoing a call to hold a First Ministers Meeting with the Prime Minister over the subject of Aboriginal poverty.

Last week, the country’s premiers met in Quebec City to heard from Canada’s five main Aboriginal groups.

Among the topics raised at last week’s gathering was chronic underfunding of Aboriginal education and poverty among children.

Wall says he agrees those subjects need to be addressed.

However, he also wants to see the issue of Aboriginal integration into the mainstream economy brought to the forefront.

Wall applauds the federal government for issuing the recent apology to residential school survivors, and says that momentum shouldn’t be lost.

The Prime Minister’s Office says Aboriginal issues will be part of the agenda of a First Ministers Meeting later this year.
