Wal-Mart Baby Still Doing Fine

A baby who was abandoned in the washroom of the Prince Albert Wal-Mart store is doing well and developing normally, according to an official with the Lac La Ronge Indian band.

Dexter Kinequon, the director of the band’s child and family services wing, confirms the baby is still in the care of the agency.

In May, a woman allegedly abandoned the newborn in the store’s washroom before leaving.

She now faces one charge of child abandonment and is scheduled to appear in provincial court on September 13th.

The store manager that rescued the baby received the Red Cross Rescuer Award in a ceremony at the Prince Albert Wal-Mart this morning.

Chad Fraser cleared the baby’s airway, massaged his chest, and kept him warm until EMS personnel arrived on the scene.

Fraser just completed his Red Cross first aid certification last fall, and says the chance to make a difference in someone’s life is “awesome”.
