Wait Continues for Test Results on Air Ronge Water

Officials are still waiting for water test results in a northern community hit with an emergency boil water order.

The Village of Air Ronge and the surrounding reserves were notified of the boil water order yesterday morning.

Saskatchewan Environment spokesman Warren Kelly says they hope to remove the order by Thursday if all the test results come back clean.

The measure was put in place after workers at the plant noticed that a waste line had burst, possibly contaminating the fresh water supply.

Kelly says water treatment workers are only required to check the plant once a day to ensure all is running smoothly. He says during the last check at 9:30 Sunday morning, everything looked normal.

He adds workers would have been notified sooner of the break but a back-up alarm system failed.

Although health officials are anticipating little to no health impacts, those in the affected area are reminded to continue boiling their water to eliminate any chance of contamination in their home.
