The march towards the creation of a youth addictions facility continues in Prince Albert.

Last night, city council agreed to re-zone an area near the Victoria Hospital that could be used for the Prince Albert Grand Council’s proposed detox centre.

Prince Albert Parkland Health Region CEO Cecile Hunt says this does not mean that building the 15-bed facility is a done deal.

However, she acknowledges it is a vital step in the process.

Hunt says final approval for the re-zoning will likely come on August 13th.

Members of the public will also be allowed to voice their opinion.

The town of Birch Hills and the Rural Municipality of Buckland have previously rejected having the centre built in their communities.
