A volunteer ground search is underway today near Wynyard for an elderly First Nations woman.

78-year-old Emily Osmond of the Kawacatoose First Nation hasn’t been seen since the third week of September.

A total of 30 searchers have answered the call to help — including a team of experienced searchers from Montreal Lake.

Her niece, Myrna Laplante, says Osmond has carried on a quite existence on her own in the country near her home reserve.

She also doesn’t wasn’t to speculate what might have happened to her aunt.

Laplante says there are five search teams on foot scouring the area, as well as a team of ATV riders and a group of searchers on horseback.

The ground search will continue tomorrow morning at 9:00 if Osmond is not found today.

Anyone wanting to become involved with the search effort is asked to call Laplante at 220-8481.
