Urban Reserve Proposal In Regina Gathering Steam

If all goes according to plan, the Cowessess First Nation will have an urban reserve in Regina in about a year.

The City of Regina’s executive committee has already approved a municipal services and compatibility agreement with the First Nation, and now the band is in talks with police and schools to get the six-lot property converted into a reserve.

Alvin Delorme, the manager of urban programs and services for Cowessess, says off-reserve band members need the urban reserve badly.

Delorme envisions the property being designated as a reserve by the end of the year.

However, he can’t get into details about what business might be established in the area.
