The slow march towards First Nations self governance was up for discussion last night at Prince Albert’s West Flat Community Centre.

FSIN officials staged a supper meeting for urban members to inform them about where the treaty implementation scenario currently lies.

One of the facilitators for last night’s gathering, A.J. Felix, says it is crucial that off-reserve band members get up to speed on what’s taking place in this area — as they will play a large part in what decisions are made in the future.

Felix notes that one of the issues needing immediate examination concerns the delivery of services to the urban membership.

He says it’s clear from the deplorable housing conditions many residents endure that too many people are falling through the cracks.
