The Saskatchewan Research Council’s Geoanalytical Laboratories has received a donation from two uranium mining companies to speed up the long process of analysing minerals.

President and CEO of the SRC Geoanalytical Labs, Laurie Schramm, says the booming mining industry in our province has the SRC Labs busy analyzing mineral samples.

With the recent donation of $43,000 worth of lab equipment, he feels it’s beneficial for all parties involved.

Schramm says the SRC labs have been processing uranium from the Athabasca Basin exploration projects, which are responsible for roughly one third of the western world’s primary uranium supply.

Schramm says with the new system in place, processing times and the consumption and money spent on chemicals have been substantially reduced.
