Uranium Mill Threatened By Forest Fire

A fire is burning close to the Key Lake uranium mill.

The High Rock Fire is about six kilometres from the site.

Workers at Key Lake have set up sprinkler systems on buildings, and are assisting fire crews by building nearby fire breaks.

Cameco spokesman Gord Struthers says the fire is a cause for concern, but everything is under control.

He adds the area received some rain yesterday afternoon, which helped quiet the flames a bit.
