The Canadian Union of Public Employees has gone on record as saying First Nations groups should be present at the upcoming health-care meetings in Ottawa.

Tom Graham, a spokesman for the union here in Saskatchewan, says he can’t believe the federal government is actually considering going ahead without input from First Nations.

Graham says valuable insight and knowledge stands to be gained by having them at the table later this month in Ottawa.

Graham adds CUPE members throughout Saskatchewan are able to see many of the challenges facing northerners when it comes to health issues as they do have members who travel.

He hopes Prime Minister Paul Martin will come through on a promise to more fully include them in the health-care spectrum.
