Northern Saskatchewan’s two-way radio system looks to be safe for the time being.

On Friday, officials from Sasktel told the Lac La Ronge Indian Band they would not remove it until a new alternative is firmly in place.

Chief Tammy Cook-Searson says her band also told the company it doesn’t want to see the satellite phone system in its place.

She says she and others have communicated this information to Sasktel and they have responded favorably.

More meetings are planned in the future.
