Turpel-Lafond Addresses B.C. Chiefs

Former Saskatchewan provincial court judge Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond is making her first address today to B.C. First Nations leaders in her new role.

 

Turpel-Lafond recently became that province’s Representative for Children and Youth.

 

She is in North Vancouver today for a meeting of B.C. First Nations Summit.

 

Turpel-Lafond holds the distinction of being the first Aboriginal woman to be appointed to the bench in Saskatchewan.

 

She has earned accolades for highlighting the plight of young offenders who have been diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
