A group of investigators is preparing to review the deaths of children in residential schools.

An official with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission says details still have to be worked out, but the project will move ahead.

“The Missing Children Research Project” is designed to shed light on the various circumstances surrounding the deaths of children over the decades the schools were in operation.

Commission spokesperson Kimberly Phillips says the researchers will work in conjunction with the commission wherever possible.

Most of the work will involve going through documents and archived material, but Phillips says witness accounts from survivors will be accepted, as well.
