The Battlefords Tribal Council has filed legal action against the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations.

In a press release, the BTC says it is upset with a resolution the FSIN passed at a recent assembly.

It claims the federation had no right to tranfer control of the Gold Eagle Casino from the BTC to a rival tribal council in the Battlefords area, the Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs.

As a result, papers have been filed in Saskatoon Court of Queen’s Bench against the FSIN and Chief Lawrence Joseph.

BTC spokesman Wayne Semaganis says his group tried to resolve this out of court, but that approach didn’t get the desired results.
