Trial Ordered in Case of Wal-Mart Baby

A trial has been ordered for a 21 year-old woman accused of child abandonment.

April Dawn Halkett will go before a judge at court of queen’s bench in Prince Albert .

Yesterday (wed) at a preliminary hearing it was determined enough evidence exists to warrant a trial.

She was charged after an infant baby was discovered in a Walmart bathroom on May 21st of last year.

The child was subsequently rescued and since said to be doing well.

None of the evidence presented at the hearing can be reported on due to a publication ban.
