Transwest Air Offers More Help To Far North

Air travelers to the Far North will be allowed some extra luggage, beginning tomorrow.
Transwest Air has announced it is raising the checked bag allowance from 60 lbs. per person to 100 lbs. per person.
Company spokesman Ken Landers says the new limits will remain in effect until northern ice roads open or circumstances change.
The unseasonably warm weather this winter has prevented ice roads from being built in the Athabasca region, resulting in critical shortages of food and fuel.
Landers adds Transwest Air is also preparing to fly-in fuel to Wollaston Lake and Fond du Lac.
However, he says the company is waiting to hear from those communities’ band councils first.
