Tragedy At Good Spirit Lake

A 10-year-old boy from the Carry the Kettle First Nation has drowned while attending a summer camp.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Brad Kaeding says someone noticed the boy floating face down in the water near a beach at Good Spirit Lake around 7:00 last night.

Attempts to revive the boy were unsuccessful.

The RCMP say supervision does not appear to be an issue.

The Mounties also do not suspect foul play, but an autopsy has been ordered.

The boy’s name has not been released.
