The Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation’s urban reserve in Prince Albert is home to a traditional healing gathering this week.

A handful of elders, specially chosen for their unique blend of traditional knowledge and life experience, will see members of the public asking for treatment.

Coordinator Sharon Longjohn says some of the healers are from villages as far away as South America.

She adds all members of the public are welcome to make an appointment to see the healers, but certain rules must be followed.

Longjohn says the event began four years ago at the Nekaneet First Nation.

The first year it was held at Nekaneet, 10-thousand people showed up.
