An official with Northlands College says about 20 students will continue training at a flooded-out uranium operation.

Last fall, the students began work experience programs at Cigar Lake, using the province’s new mobile training lab.

Those studies were all in the classroom, though, and it was thought new accommodations might be needed for the hands-on component of the course this year.

However, Northlands CEO Bill McLoughlin says industry has stepped up to the plate, and is flying students to other mines for training.

McLoughlin notes electrical students are taking their practicum at Cigar Lake, while machinery students are being flown out.
