A Regina man has drowned in northern Saskatchewan.

A 23-year-old man was out swimming in the bay near Otter Rapids yesterday afternoon when he and several friends decided to try to reach a floating pad, approximately 100 to 150 yards out.

The man became separated from the other swimmers, and yelled for help.

However, he had gone under by the time help arrived.

His body was found by searchers later that afternoon.

The victim was one of 10 people from Regina who were staying at Otter Rapids, located 80 kilometres north of La Ronge.
