A major travelling exhibition highlighting centuries-old northern Saskatchewan rock paintings rolls into La Ronge today.

Saskatchewan Archaeological Society spokesperson Talina Cyr-Steenkamp says one purpose of the tour is to teach northerners about the signifigance of preserving and protecting the ancient pictographs.

Cyr-Steenkamp says the exhibit includes displays and panels of the rock paintings, as well as a one-hour film called “Spirit in the Rocks”.

The tour will visit several northern communities in the coming days, including Southend, Stanley Mission, Deschambault Lake, Pelican Narrows and Creighton.
