An official with Western Economic Diversification says funding dollars to a northern development program are flowing as usual, despite rumours to the contrary.

Deputy minister Daniel Watson notes the Northern Development Agreement is nearing the end of its life, and decisions are being made about what projects to approve before it wraps up.

In 2002, the province and the previous federal Liberal government announced the 5-year, $20 million project aimed at strengthening the northern economy.

Watson adds the Conservative government is currently reviewing the program, but insists no funds are being suspended while that happens.

Watson also says the program is unaffected by Ottawa’s recent clawback of $1.3 billion in program funding.

The development agreement will formally come to an end on March 31st, 2007.
