The Conservatives are calling on the Liberal government to provide millions of dollars more in development funding to northern Saskatchewan.

Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River MP Jeremy Harrison is presenting the party’s new northern strategy in the House of Commons in the form of a private member’s motion.

It calls on the government to extend its Northern Strategy for the territories to both northern Saskatchewan and northern Manitoba.

Specifically, the Conservatives are calling on the Liberals to provide $120 million in new development money to both regions over the next four years.

Harrison says that’s the kind of money the Conservatives would give to northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba if they form the next government.

Under the Northern Development Agreement signed by Ottawa and the province a few years ago, the two levels of government committed $20 million over five years.
