A northern Saskatchewan man with cerebral palsy is back home in La Ronge after jumping out of a plane to raise awareness of issues faced by people with disabilities.

Gary Tinker made the 10,000-ft. leap Saturday in Moose Jaw, and he says the support he received when he showed up at the air field — including several strangers lining up to shake his hand — was outstanding.

According to Tinker, the event was “kind of freaky” at first, but it was a “really good experience.”

The jump was planned in conjunction with the upcoming 20th anniversary celebrations for the Gary Tinker Federation.

A video of Tinker’s jump will be shown at the Sept. 12 conference.
