A Metis artist with ties to Cumberland House says she’s proud to be participating in Louis Riel Day celebrations today.

Leah Dorion is a painter who is collaborating on a show with 12 other artists at the Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company in Saskatoon.

Part of today and tomorrow will involve performances by the artists about what Louis Riel Day means to Metis people.

Dorion is also showcasing some of her paintings that tie into her culture.

Other artists taking part in today’s event include musicians John and Vicki Arcand, actor Tantoo Cardinal and dancer Yvonne Chartrand.
