Testimony Continues At Sanderson Trial

Two more people took the stand yesterday afternoon in the trial of a La Ronge woman accused of causing a fatal vehicle accident two years ago.
Emily Colli testified she woke up the morning of May 6th, 2005 to the sound of banging on her door.
When she opened it, she saw her aunt, Lily Sanderson, standing there.
She told court Sanderson was crying. Colli said Sanderson told her there had been an accident on a grid road just south of La Ronge and that people were hurt.
She also testified Sanderson told her later: “I think I’m going to jail for a long time.”
Colli woke her husband, who rushed out to the scene of the accident.
Brent Colli said he found the lifeless bodies of 23-year-old Laura Lee Isbister and 25-year-old Talitha Sanderson in the wreckage — and that James Charles was lying beside the car in obvious need of medical attention.
Brent Colli says he waited there until help arrived.
The defence lawyer asked both of the witnesses if they noticed any alcohol on his client’s breath, or if she had slurred speech.
Emily Colli replied “No”, while her husband testified he never got close enough to notice.
The trial will continue throughout the week.
It’s expected to last into next week, as well.
