Testimony Continues at Brass Inquest

A coroner’s inquest in Battleford has heard that, on the day he died, there was nothing to indicate that a man from the Key First Nation intended to kill himself.

35-year-old Ivor Dean Brass passed away July 30th, 2007.

He was found hanging from a rope in a garage at the Saskatchewan Hospital.

A nurse at the hospital, Debbie Doom, said today that the staff hold daily meetings to discuss how patients are behaving.

She said no concerns were raised about Brass’ behaviour, or anything he said — either from staff, fellow patients or his sister who had just visited him.

In fact, Doom said the amount of responsibility given to Brass had just been increased.

The inquest is scheduled to wrap up tomorrow or Thursday.
