Meadow Lake RCMP are investigating a single vehicle rollover which claimed the life of an 18-year-old man, following an after-grad party on the Flying Dust First Nation.

The driver, 19-year-old Benjamin Lennie, appeared in Meadow Lake Provincial Court today, facing seven charges in connection with the accident.

Those charges include dangerous driving causing death, and impaired driving causing death.

The accident occurred at about 8 a.m. on a grid road.

RCMP say one passenger, 18-year-old Shane Aubichon, was ejected from the vehicle. He later died of his injuries.

Another passenger, 18-year-old Chantelle McCallum, was airlifted to Royal University Hospital. She is now recovering at home.

A third passenger, 16-year-old Dawsyn Penner, received minor injuries.

The lead investigator, Cst. Kyle Brake, says it’s too early to say exactly how the accident happened.

RCMP are still investigating.

Cst. Brake says weather and road conditions were good at the time of the crash.
