Teen Charged With Little Pine Band Office Fire

RCMP have arrested a 15-year-old youth in relation to a fire at the Little Pine First Nation over the weekend.

On Sunday, flames ripped through the band office, destroying both it and the community’s medical centre.

At this point, authorities say they believe the fire started in a shed beside the building.

Officials with the band held an emergency meeting with Indian Affairs officials over the noon hour today, to decide on a course of action.

According to several reports, much of the band’s financial data and historical records were kept in the building.

Meantime, the accused youth has been remanded into custody until June 25, when a bail hearing is scheduled to occur.
