Teen Charged Regarding Fatal Crash At Beardy’s

RCMP have arrested a 16-year-old male in connection to the fatal vehicle rollover on the Beardy’s/Okemasis First Nation this past weekend.
The youth is alleged to have been the driver of a minivan which lost control and rolled on Highway 212 at about 3:30 Sunday morning.
The accident claimed the lives of 17-year-old Andy Scott and 11-year-old Keisha Thomas.
Seven other occupants aged 10 to 18 were injured and sent to hospital.
RCMP spokesperson Heather Russell says the teenaged suspect, who can’t be identified, faces a wide number of charges — including two counts of impaired driving causing death, three counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, two counts of dangerous driving causing death and three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
He is also accused of stealing the vehicle involved in the fatal crash.
The youth made his first court appearance this morning in Beardy’s and was released on a number of conditions.
He will next appear in court on July 18th.
