Residents of Deschambault Lake are busy cleaning up after a storm ripped through the community over the weekend.

It was last Saturday at about five p.m. That resident, Jean Sewap, says the storm descended upon her community.

Sewap was out on the lake fishing when it occurred, but says it was clear to her by the high winds and thick rain the storm was going to be a bad one.

When she got back she was unprepared for what she saw, with hundreds of trees uprooted from the ground and a number of buildings in Deschambault had also suffered significant damage. Sewap says she believes it must have been the work of a tornado.

This morning clean-up efforts from the storm were still on-going and Sewap says it will be a while before things get back to normal.

Sewap says she’s thankful for the fact no one got hurt in the storm and that the damage wasn’t worse.

She adds both Saskpower and the band deserve to be

commended for the quick-repair efforts as well.
