A young woman from La Ronge has been charged in a suspected case of mail theft at the community’s post office.

RCMP Staff Sergeant Kirk Munro says several items that went missing at the post office were recovered in the suspect’s home during a search last Friday and in subsequent searches.

Munro says letters and contents of parcels were also found in the trash and in the suspect’s car.

It’s believed the items were taken over the last month.

Munro says the suspect was contracted to do work in the Canada Post building, but is not a Canada Post employee.

He also wants to reassure the La Ronge public that it is safe to use the mail service, and that the recovered items will eventually make their way to their rightful owners.

The woman’s name will be released after she makes her first court appearance on October 18th.
