Suspect In Fatal La Ronge Crash To Stand Trial

A Stony Rapids man has been committed to stand trial in connection to a fatal crash last summer in La Ronge.

Wilbert Mercredi was charged with impaired driving causing death, as well as operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level over .08 causing death, after the late August car crash that caused the death of 57-year-old local resident Larry Reginald Urquhart.

Following a recent preliminary hearing in La Ronge, it was decided that Mercredi will stand trial at Court of Queen’s Bench in Prince Albert.

A trial date hasn’t been scheduled yet.
