Support Grows For Aboriginal Business Association

A Metis entrepreneur on the West Side says there appears to be enough interest for a new business association to become officially incorporated.

Philip Chartier helped host a meeting in Buffalo Narrows this week that brought together about 15 businesspeople from the northern village and surrounding communities.

Chartier says the creation of the Northwest Saskatchewan Aboriginal Business Association will hopefully create more work for area contractors — all of whom have their own stories of missed opportunities.

He says the region’s entrepreneurs are optimistic they will win more contracts by working together.

Chartier believes the association could easily boast 50 members before too long.

It’s expected to officially get off the ground this fall.
