Northerners are being urged not to miss an opportunity tomorrow in Buffalo Narrows to meet some of the major players in Alberta’s oilsands.

The Northern Development Board is hosting what it’s calling an opportunity identification workshop, in an effort to further help prepare northern communities for the new road link to Fort McMurray.

Board executive member Max Morin notes representatives from major companies like Syncrude and Suncor will be in attendance.

Morin says the forum is a chance for northerners to leave a good impression by showing these companies that northern Saskatchewan is filled with a willing and able workforce.

Morin notes the forum will also be useful for communities and businesses wishing to capitalize on the expected increase in tourists from northern Alberta.

Tomorrow’s gathering at the Lakeview Complex in Buffalo Narrows will run all day, and is free of charge.

Those interested in taking part are asked to register by calling the board’s La Ronge office at 425-2444.
