A top union executive says the Mamawetan-Churchill River and Keewatin Yatthe health regions need more nurses.
Saskatchewan Union of Nurses president Rosalie Longmoorse says there are currently four-and-a-half equivalent vacancies between the two authorities.
She maintains something needs to happen before existing staff are overwhelmed.
Longmoore says the two regions need eight to ten nurses to help make up the shortage.
She is calling on the government to hire 600 more nurses across the province.
