A Sturgeon Lake man implicated in a serious assault on the reserve last weekend is now facing a charge of second-degree murder.

That’s because the victim, 28-year-old Leslie Ann Longjohn, has passed away in hospital.

Jongjohn was admitted to a Saskatoon hospital with severe head injuries.

Her alleged attacker, 37-year-old Rick Harold Ermine, had initially been charged with attempted murder.

He remains in custody and will face a preliminary hearing on the new charge on February 19th.
