University of Saskatchewan researchers hope a new study will help develop policy in election law to address institutional barriers when it comes to Aboriginal voter participation.

Yesterday, more than $1.6 million was announced for northern, cultural, and community projects — including one led by Bonita Beatty, a professor of Native Studies at the university.

The research project will study how Aboriginal people in northern Saskatchewan engage in politics.

Five graduate and undergraduate students will be involved in the study.
