The president of the Saskatchewan Transportation Company says he will keep working on ways of selling a new bus route to residents in the province’s northwest.

Ray Clayton acknowledges ridership on the La Loche to Prince Albert route has been slower than first anticipated.

The route was recently introduced with the promise of giving northerners another way of getting to things like medical appointments in the city.

Clayton says more people may begin to take advantage of the service once they know more about it.

He is hoping for a similar increase in freight volumes along the route, noting they have been modest to this point.

Clayton adds a recent seat sale has helped boost ridership to some degree, and he sees that as reason for optimism.
