Status Of Fish Plant Loan Uncertain

The provincial government says a loan to Saskatchewan Commercial Fisheries may have to be re-issued if further developments with a proposed fish plant don’t happen soon.
It’s been over two years since the co-op first began working towards establishing a processing plant in Prince Albert.
Organizers say they are very close to being able to give the green light for construction, but some big institutional backing still needs to be found.
Northern Affairs consultant Brian Cousins says the government needs to see an agreement between the fishers and the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation by the end of the month, or the loan will have to be revisited.
He also says a full funding package needs to be in order, as well.
Cousins adds the government still has faith in the project, but will be waiting to see if the March 31st deadline is met.
