Stanley Mission Plays Host To Northern Trappers

A north-wide trappers’ gathering is getting underway in Stanley Mission today.
The two-day event is being hosted by the N-9 Fur Block and the Northern Saskatchewan Trappers Association.
Among other things, organizers hope to provide trappers with news about the latest garment demands to help them decide which pelts to target this coming season.
The Lac La Ronge Indian Band’s new fur-buying outlet is also scheduled to provide an update on its operations.
As well, the trappers’ association will provide details about its business plan and organizational structure.
There will also be demonstrations and even a fur garment show.
A similar gathering was held in La Ronge last year — and now that it’s becoming an annual event, organizers are anticipating a larger turnout.
